About the Artist

My art revolves around people and nature, two of my strongest interests. With a focus on people in the context of daily life, I invite the viewer to speculate on the subject’s experience and emotion. The nature paintings focus more strongly on elements of beauty. I attribute my interest in figurative painting to a lifetime of unabashed people watching. Through painting, I indulge my curiosity by exploring the momentary gestures, reactions, and experiences that captivate me. The interludes with nature refresh and refocus my perspective and enliven my interest as I move back and forth between subject matters. I have received training through the Atlanta College of Arts (CE), Chastain Arts Center, Spruill Center for the Arts, and other educational offerings in the Atlanta area. I am particularly grateful to Ben Smith and Marc Chatov, whose teachings have been generous and invaluable.
